"Just a quick note to tell you how very very much we enjoyed our stay in your house. It was as wonderful as I'd hoped it would be. The house is beautifully designed and very stylishly furnished. And it was fantastic to have a properly equipped kitchen to cook in. (So many houses -- even expensive ones-- fill up their kitchen drawers with bits of old stuff!) We all had a marvellous time. We ate wonderful food (LOVED the local butcher and the local baker, pigged out at Mimmi's, went also to a v good agriturismo/restaurant near Spedalicchio, bought fantastic wine from the Fattoria at Sant'Andrea etc etc), saw lots of great art, did passeggiata at Gubbio and Spoleto." What can we say about your villa? Firstly it fully lived up to your description in Holiday Rentals and your own web site. It is in a truly spectacular position. We think it perfect in summer, but spring flowers and autumn looking across the valley must also be worth seeing. It is relatively isolated but not inaccessible. We felt free to play music and let the children shout because there was no-one to annoy. The pool was perfect for us. Not too deep for the children, possible for us to stand in the deep end and drink in the view. ....We loved Castel Rigone and Preggio and shopping in Mercatale.
"We found the house to be perfectly equipped with everything of high quality, all the comforts of home. We especially enjoyed and used your library, the fantastic array of kitchen equipment and cookbooks, the computer – useful to have easy access to the internet. The children enjoyed DVDs, I enjoyed your music system and CDs and the family played their MP3 playlists through the sound system. Every night we sat on the terrace overlooking the valley and relaxed and enjoyed Umbrian and Tuscan wines and no one missed the TV." PMH 2008
"A heavenly week...We stayed at Martinozza at the end of a hot balmy August in 2008. There were 4 adults and 6 children aged from 3 to 11 years in our group. The property was spotlessly clean and well maintained by an adorable English/German/ Italian speaking lady, who was also very helpful with local knowledge.
"Martinozza couldn't have been more inviting and luxurious for our needs. There was ample room for all 10 of us, plenty of bathrooms for 5 girls and 2 mums, and a gloriously big pool for us to swim, play, and float in. The owner had provided plenty of sun loungers in the pool house and even fun floats for the kids.
"We mainly cooked our meals at the house, using local produce, in the BBQ area outside in the loggia, which was perfect for the fab weather. On other days we used the large ultra-modern kitchen for our meals. We ate out twice in excellent local trattorias recommended by the owner in their very helpful guide to the area.
"Lake Trasimeno was only about 20 minutes drive and had some lovely cafes by the lake's side. We mainly did our food shopping in Lisciano Niccone, 10 mins away and really enjoyed the market at Umbertide. Cortona, about 40 mins away, is a very beautiful typical Italian town, great for boutiques, restaurants and general strolling and people-watching.
"We've told all our friends about Martinozza, we had such a relaxing, but fun holiday there. I have great memories of soaking up the last of the sun's rays, sitting out in the loggia with a glass of wine and watching the sun go down behind the rolling hills. Stunning!!!" CH 2008
