Food and drink

Umbrian food tends to be simple and delicious, relying on fabulous fresh seasonal produce. If you like cooking, the local markets are fantastic - as are many of the local shops and supermarkets. The kitchen at Martinozza di Sopra is very well-equipped. We even have a small library of books on Italian cookery if you are seeking inspiration.

On the other hand, we can provide an excellent chef providing lovely local dishes. Why not treat yourselves to a couple of meals cooked for you? Or have a chef full-time? Guests at the house have really enjoyed the meals provided. If you have young children, this is a fabulous way of treating yourselves to a meal, without having to get a babysitter.

Il Postale (www.ristoranteilpostale.it) - in Citta di Castello, about 45 minutes away - is the nearest Michelin starred restaurant. And 'probably the best vegetarian restaurant in the world,' Montali, is about the same distance away south of Lake Trasimeno (http://www.montalionline.com/). This is well worth a visit, even for meat lovers. Alternatively, there are many good local restaurants, which are listed in a guide at the house.
